UTA Banking Program

As the founding director of the University of Texas at Arlington’s Banking Program, I am committed to building a flagship platform for banking education, financial institutions research, and industry engagement in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

DFW has emerged as one of America’s fastest-growing financial hubs, with a rapidly expanding presence of banks, nonbank financial institutions, fintech firms, and regulators. Located at the heart of this metroplex, UTA’s Banking Program is designed to serve the region’s financial industry, develop student talent, and foster research with lasting impact for Texas and the broader U.S. economy. DFW has more finance jobs than any U.S. metropolitan area after New York, creating a powerful opportunity for UTA to connect students, researchers, and industry leaders.

The program is built around three connected pillars:

  • Research: Develop UTA as a flagship center for research on banking, nonbank financial institutions, fintech, regulation, financial stability, credit markets, and regional banking.
  • Education: Prepare students for careers in commercial banking, credit analysis, lending, compliance, risk management, and relationship banking through a focused banking certificate and applied learning. Importantly, the Banking Certificate gives students hands-on skills, industry insight, and a competitive edge for careers in commercial banking and financial institutions.
  • Industry Outreach: Build lasting partnerships with banks, regulators, nonbank institutions, alumni, and industry leaders across Texas and beyond.
